We are pleased to announce a decision has finally been made on the Gayhurst Medical Centre building. The damage to the land and building was extensive. The insurance company says the building has to come down but rebuilding a commercial building on this site is uneconomical.
Dallington has a lot of cleared land now but unfortunately it is not available to us. After careful consideration and looking at many possible options, we have decided to move 5 kilometers north.
The new Medical Centre will be built near the intersection of Marshlands and Prestons Roads, with the entrance into the car park from Prestons Road. The Gayhurst Pharmacy is moving with us and will be part of the new building.Tina will be there as well with her Body Wise Physiotherapy Clinic and Laura with Feet First Podiatry. We will be next door to the old Gardenways site which is due to open in the next month as a preschool. You may also have seen the new BP service area which is now open for business directly over the road.
We have enjoyed being part of the Dallington community for many years and now find ourselves having to move on, like a lot of the local residents. We can only look on it as an exciting venture and new start. We sincerely hope our existing patients will move with us to the new site for their ongoing healthcare.
Nothing happens quickly however. We have Resource Consent, have applied for Building Consent and after this there is a six month build time. We are hoping to open as the Marshlands Family Health Centre in early 2014. In the meantime it is business as usual in Gayhurst Road.
