Enjoy working for a practice that understands and alleviates the pressures of GP life.  Working in modern, purpose-built premises you’ll see approximately 10 people a session and attend to a wide variety of people and conditions, from coughs and colds to the acutely unwell.

You’ll appreciate having breathing space, created by sufficient acute spots and a team that do all they can to reduce pressure. Utilise MedTech Evolution PMS alongside a patient portal to minimise admin.  Choose regular days, from 3 – 8 sessions a week.

Either a Specialist GP or a GP in training you’re kind, professional and approachable. Knowledgeable, you’re confident in your abilities and patient centred.  You’ll contribute to the team environment and ideally bring humour.  We’re open to how many sessions you’re available, or how much support you’ll need. 

Marshlands Family Health Centre are a medium sized family-centric general practice owned by doctors who work in the practice. We have 6000 registered patients, the vast majority between 25 and 64; around 45 percent are categorised as ‘less deprived’, and 16 percent are high needs. We also have facilities for minor surgery.  Weekly clinical meetings and monthly practice meetings are held where we share knowledge and observations.  Nimble, we actively manage workflow pressures.  Our vision is to be the practice everyone wants to be part of.

New Zealand has an enviable outdoors lifestyle, perfectly suited to active GPs.  Christchurch in particular is in close proximity to walking, mountain-biking and skiing facilities.  Our public health model is commercial; partially paid by patients’ and supported by government funds in various pools.  If coming from outside of New Zealand, you will become familiar with the model and aware of options for patients.  You will also have, or be eligible for, General Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (vocational registration is not required) and hold current Medical Indemnity Insurance.
